About LotterySambadTool
LotterySambadTool.com is an independent, free calculator website for people who have won — or are curious about — a lottery or Teer prize in India. We built the site because most lottery tax information online stops at a single flat percentage, which is often wrong for the state a winner actually plays in. Our calculators go one step further: they account for agent commission where it applies (such as in Kerala), and the surcharge that Indian tax law adds on larger prizes but that isn’t collected at the counter.
What we do
We publish two free calculators and a small library of explainer articles:
- Lottery Prize Take-Home Calculator — estimates what an Indian lottery winner actually keeps after agent commission, TDS under Section 194B, surcharge and health & education cess.
- Teer Payout Calculator — a simple arithmetic tool that works out a payout from a stake and odds. It does not predict results, generate numbers, or offer betting advice.
- Guides and articles explaining how Indian lottery tax rules work, state by state, and at different prize amounts.
What we are not
To be completely clear:
- We are not a lottery operator, distributor, or ticket seller.
- We are not a betting platform, and we do not take, place, or facilitate bets of any kind.
- We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Nagaland State Lotteries, the Kerala State Lotteries Department, any other state lottery department, any Teer association or counter, or any government body.
- We do not publish official results. For official results and prize claims, always use your state lottery department’s official channels.
How our calculators work
Our figures are estimates built from publicly available tax law (Section 194B and Section 115BB of the Income Tax Act) and publicly documented state lottery prize structures. Tax rules, agent commission rates, and prize structures can change, and individual circumstances vary. We recommend verifying any result against your official prize claim documents and consulting a qualified tax professional before making financial decisions based on a win.
Our editorial approach
Every article and calculator on this site is reviewed against the relevant sections of the Income Tax Act and cross-checked against multiple public sources before publishing. Where rules are genuinely ambiguous or vary by state, we say so explicitly rather than presenting a single number as certain. Pages are dated and updated when tax rules change each financial year.
